“WE ARE A LIVING LEGACY”
Larry Itliong Day Celebration 2021
Sponsored by FANHS Delano, Central Valley Empowerment Alliance
and Bulosan Center for Filipino Studies
Sunday, October 24, 2021, 9 AM to 8 PM, Poplar and Delano
We are very proud to announce that FANHS Delano, Central Valley Empowerment Alliance (CVEA) and Bulosan Center for Filipino Studies are coming together to celebrate the enduring and living legacy of Larry Itliong, the Filipino labor organizer who led the Delano Grape Strike of 1965. The five-year strike sparked a world-wide movement for social justice. Larry Itliong Day is a State-designated day to honor this hero, observed on his birthday, October 25th each year. This year, it is with intentionality that we uplift stories of the Farm Worker Movement not often told like the Yemen and Yokut Indigenous and Poplar farm workers' contributions to the struggle.
This event is supported by Dolores Huerta, Paul Chavez and the Chavez Family, Larry Itliong Family, Al Rojas Family, Senator Diane Feinstein’s Office, Congresswoman Barbara Lee’s Office, Attorney General Rob Bonta, State Treasurer Fiona Ma, AD 18 Representative Mia Bonta and other elected officials throughout the State.
This year’s festivities will be held on Sunday, October 24th.
